Elementary/Middle School Students Engage in No-Name Calling Activities

(Feb. 6, 2018) During the month of January, Ichabod Crane Middle School's Friends of Rachel worked with Pawsitive Peers to organize national No-Name Calling activities for the elementary/middle school students.

During the week of January 15, students were asked to write poems, essays and songs or create a poster that represented what No-Name calling meant to them. Several students participate in this activity. As part of this week, homeroom teachers nominated the one student from their homeroom who showed kindness and respect throughout the week. Each of the students received a certificate of recognition and their pictures were taken. Learn More

"BackPack Program" Feeds Our Hungriest Students

The program provides backpacks filled with food that is child-friendly, shelf-stable, and easily-consumed. Bags are packed each week by school staff and discreetly distributed to participating children every Friday afternoon.

Since Ichabod Crane’s "BackPack Program" is funded entirely by local donations, the success of the program depends on fundraising efforts. To see how you can help support the BackPack Program in our schools, view the flyer here. All donations are tax deductible. THe ES/MS Backpack coordinator is Jessica Mascolo.

Ichabod Crane Primary School has been involved in the program since 2011 and is coordinated there by Sandra Funk.
