From Juan González, Director of IT Dept.
KEEPING UP WITH THE TIMESThe 2007-2008 school year, as in previous years, will bring to Ichabod Crane students and staff a richer, newer and more complete network and technology environment. Each of the District's five buildings has at least one dedicated wired computer lab and capacity for a wireless environment. This year, the District has added at the High School a 25 iMac computer lab and additional Thin Client devices. Of the 700 plus networked workstations in the District, at least 50 percent of them are dedicated to our student's learning experience. Beginning in grade 3, each student participates with his/her own individual network student account and has the capacity to keep their work stored and saved on the District's network. Smart Boards, LCD projectors, and new Document Projectors are becoming more and more popular across our District. Also networked printing is ubiquitous across the District. In addition to a Windows environment, Linux and versions of the Open Source movement are also becoming available to some segments of our student population. |
