IC Music Students Selected to Participate in All County Jazz Festival Feb. 1 & 3

(Updated Feb. 2, 2017; Jan. 19, 2017) Eight (8) Ichabod Crane High School students were selected to participate in the first of three Columbia County Music Educators Association (CCMEA) All County Festivals. The All County Jazz Festival will be held at the New Lebanon Central School District on Wednesday, February 1 and Friday, February 3.

Students will participate in intense after school rehearsals with students selected from the other schools in Columbia County. Conductors for these groups will be Kaitlyn Fay Koch (All County Jazz Choir) and Scott Weinhold (All County Instrumental Jazz Ensemble). Mr. Weinhold, who is a member of the US Army Band in Washington DC, is an alumnus of Ichabod Crane (graduating in 1989).

The All County experience will culminate with performances by the All County A Cappella Choir and the All County Instrumental Jazz Ensemble. The Concert will be on Friday, February 3 at 7:00pm (with a Snow date of Thursday, February 2). Doors open to the public at 6:30pm. This event is free.

The format of this All County is different from the other festivals. The Jazz All County Concert begins with performances from High School Jazz Ensembles from each of the School Districts of Columbia County. The Ichabod Crane High School Jazz Ensemble is one of the groups that will perform.
