6th Grade Students Conclude Ancient Greece & Greek Units With Performance & Masks

Greek masks

(April 4, 2017) Ichabod Crane Middle School's sixth grade's learning about the ancient Greek civilization culminated with a recent performance of Chariot the Sun and creating their own Greek Theater masks.

The performance, a one-man show, was performed by Jeff Benoit and is a collection of Greek Myth skits, including "The Odyssey" and "Pandora's Box." Students, pictured below, who participated in the acting out of the mini-plays this year were Sofia Pantoja, Connor Strobel, Nathan Gallo, Dakota Cohn, and Kol Christian.

The students then created masks to replicate what they saw in the performance and characters they've read about in the many myths they enjoyed in class.

This project has been supported by a grant from the Kinderhook Foundation Arts and Humanities Fund of the Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation and the ICC PTA Arts and Education program. We are very grateful for their support.
