ICHS Announces Rider of the Month Students for May 2017

(June 19, 2017) Every month, Ichabod Crane High School honors students who demonstrate our school district’s mission and community values. These students have been recognized by high school teachers and staff for exemplifying what it means to be an Ichabod Crane Rider. They exhibit all-around good character, morals and demonstrate Rider values and Rider pride in the classroom, in sports, arts, music, volunteering in the Pre-K classroom and in the community.

Students receive a certificate, a letter from Congressman Chris Gibson and an ice cream coupon donated by Stewarts.

We are pleased to announce the following as Rider of the Month students for May:


Camdyn AmesCamdyn Ames

A student-athlete, Camdyn balances his love of sports with academics and excels at both. Camdyn is a positive student in his classes, in the halls, and on his team. He shows his Rider Pride every day and is frequently seen at sports games and events, actively cheering on his friends and teammates. Camdyn is polite and respectful to everyone in school and has a great sense of humor! To top if off, Camdyn actively writes about Capital Region sports on his website, social media and on podcasts. He is a great representative of ICC!

Cameron is a consistently hard worker who always strives for her best work. As a student-athlete, she has a great personality: friendly, caring, and conscientious. Cameron cares deeply about her friends and fellow classmates.

Jack is a caring, cheerful, responsible, well-rounded student-athlete that always provides our school with a positive peer model for others to emulate. You can always see him in the halls and his classes with a big smile and diligently working to the best of his ability. Jack is a friendly person and is well-respected by his peers and teachers.

Samantha Kittle

Samantha is a consistently and contagiously cheerful person. She is a responsible and thoughtful student that cares about her classmates, her school, and her community. Sam can be found in the mornings on her free time helping out in the library or with SAVE collecting recyclables. Sam is a hard-working student that is a pleasure to have in class and is appreciated by her peers and teachers alike. Sam’s positive presence makes a difference in our school and community.

Kathryn Ploss

Kathyrn is a strong example of what a Rider of the Month exemplifies. Kathryn's involvement in clubs and groups outside of school shows the difference she wants to make as a citizen. In the last month, she has visited the United Nations and the New York State Capitol in an effort to learn more about and become involved with women in our government and internationally. Kathryn even gave a speech at these places. She is a proud representative of ICC at these places as she shows what our students are capable of accomplishing.




Camden Swierzewski

Camden is always a positive presence in school. An artistic student, and truly good friend. He is refreshingly mature and pleasant.


Nicole Lewis

Nicole is a hard working student who is motivated to do well in class. She has a great sense of humor that helps create a positive atmosphere in class. She has been proud to be an integral member of the ICC Girls Tennis team and is a very talented artist.

Scott Defiglio

Scott is able to balance sports, his Questar program and academic responsibilities at ICC smoothly, efficiently, and with sincere pleasantness. Scott is a caring person that is friendly and polite to his classmates and teachers alike. Scott is a student-athlete that conducts himself with dignity and pride. He is a great example of an ICC Rider.
