Zumbathon Fundraiser for IC Backpack Program Sept. 30

(Sept. 14, 2017) Join us for a Zumbathon fundraiser for the Ichabod Crane Backpack Program on Saturday, Sept. 30, from 1-3 p.m at the Primary School. The Backpack Program provides weekend backpacks full of food for some of our students in need. View the flyer for details.


IC Students' Artwork on Display at 2017 Columbia County Fair
IC wins 2nd Place Grades 6-12 and 3rd Place Grades K-5

(Aug. 31, 2017) At the school artwork display at the Columbia County Fair in Chatham, which runs August 30 through Sept. 4, Ichabod Crane took 2nd Place for Grades 6-12 and 3rd Place for Grades K-5!

Over 100 works of art by Ichabod Crane students district-wide are on display in the Little Red Schoolhouse through Labor Day. A wide variety of subjects, media, techniques, and art historical references are illustrated throughout the exhibit. IC Art Teachers Gayle Abrams and Jessica Mascolo installed the district's display. Hope you will get a chance to stop by to appreciate the fine artwork and unique visual expression of each IC student in this exhibit.

Superintendent Michael Vanyo Addresses Faculty & Staff on Opening Day

Board Appoints Jessica Alessi as Student Representative

Board Approves 2017-18 Tax Warrant; School Tax Collection Begins Sept. 1

(Aug. 24, 2017) At its meeting on August 22, the Ichabod Crane Central School District Board of Education approved the 2017-18 tax warrant including the tax rates. The tax levy, which is the total amount the district will collect in taxes, is $22,781,192 – the amount voters approved in May.

School tax bills are mailed out in late August. Tax bills may be paid, without penalty, during the period September 1 through September 30, 2017. All taxes paid October 1 through October 30, 2017 shall bear an interest charge of two percent (2%). Learn More


NYS Department of Education Releases 2017 Grades 3-8 Testing Results

(Aug. 22, 2017) The New York State Department of Education (SED) today released the results of the 2017 Grades 3-8 English Language Arts (ELA) and Math assessments administered this past spring.

An analysis of the district's results will be presented to the Board of Education in September. Ichabod Crane parents will receive their children’s individual assessment reports from the district mid-September.

Free and Reduced-Price Meal Application Available

(Aug. 8, 2017) The 2017-18 Free and Reduced Price Meal application is now available. Children from households that meet Federal income guidelines are eligible to receive lunch for $0.25 and breakfast for $0.25. Interested families must apply each year, even if they have participated in the program during the previous school year. Invitations Summer ELA Program Helps Reinforce Skills

(July 27, 2017) Ichabod Crane offered another year of its summer Invitations program in July. The 20-day academic program is designed to provide Language Arts and reading support to students in grades K-3 who may benefit from additional instruction in these areas as they enter the 2017-2018 school year.
