The following biographies are written by the candidates and are in order as the candidates will appear on the ballot:

Regina Rose

Regina Rose

Originally from the Bronx, I moved upstate when married, and have resided in Niverville since 1972. Both of my children graduated from Ichabod Crane, and now my grandchildren are students here., one in Grade 7 and the other in Grade 2.

I became a Special Class/Resource Room teacher at Ichabod Crane High School, in Sept. 1985. I also spent two years in the Primary School, teaching reading to “at risk” first graders, from 1999 to 2001. I retired from Ichabod in June, 2007. During my tenure there I was active on several committees, served as student advisor for SADD and Peer Mediation, held the position of Department Chair for several years, and served as the Teachers' Union President from 1995 thru 2003. I am certified as an elementary teacher, special ed teacher, and School District Administrator.

Over the years I have felt fortunate to be living in our wonderful community. Many years ago I was a member of the Northern Columbia Jayncees, served as a Cub Scout Den mother, and worked for the Register Star as a freelance photographer. Currently I am an active member of St. John the Baptist Church in Valatie, serve on the Town of Kinderhook Zoning Board of Appeals, and have been privileged to serve on our Board of Education for three terms. In retirement I am enjoying my family and friends, my dog, gardening and sleeping past 6 am!

I believe the economy of our nation and our state will be under duress for some time to come, and we may face difficult years going forward. As a senior citizen on a fixed income, I am keenly aware that we cannot make up lost state revenues through increases in property taxes. I will bring knowledge and understanding of children, learning and teaching, years of experience in our school district, and a commitment to fairness and a common sense approaches to issues as they arise. I would be most honored to be reelected to the board of education.

John Antalek

John Antalek has more than twenty years of experience in Banking, having worked in all aspects including retail, consumer, residential, commercial and capital markets. He lives in Valatie with his wife Jennifer Boll and has 3 children and a grandchild. John has also previously served on the School Board and has been a member for this past term serving on various committees including the finance, audit and several negotiating committees. He and his wife are lifelong residents and graduates of ICC.

Brendan Caluneo

Brendan James Caluneo is a recent graduate of Ichabod Crane Central School District having graduated as a member of the Class of 2016 and is currently attending Hudson Valley Community College pursuing a degree in Criminal Justice. During his time at Ichabod Brendan attended the Hoby Youth Leadership Conference and Boys State at SUNY Morrisville. Currently Brendan is serving as a Senior Class Senator at Hudson Valley Community College and Community College Representative for the SUNY Student Assembly as well as running for Treasure of The Student Senate and Student Representative on The Board of Trustees at Hudson Valley Community College. When asked why he decided to run for school board he said. “ I decided to run for school board as a way to give back to the school district and community. I was lucky enough to have had the opportunities to excel in school and I want to ensure that future generations of Ichabod Crane graduates receive the same great education I did.” As a member of Ichabod Crane Central School District’s Board of Education Brendan James Caluneo will continue work endlessly to ensure that the student receive the best education possible and to bridge the gap between high school graduates and those planing on attending higher education. Brendan James Caluneo is extremely passionate about education as a whole from K-12 through Higher Ed and enjoys sharing that with people around him.

Jessica Berner

My name is Jessica Berner, and I have been a resident in the Ichabod Crane school district since I was in the 3rd grade. Currently, I live in Kinderhook with my husband, Derek, and our 4 boys, Noah, Isaac, Benjamin and Flynn. You may recognize me from the Northern Columbia Little League where I am a member of the board or maybe we met through the wonderful PTA. I believe it is important to be involved in not only the community, but also the schools. Children are such extraordinary people and they need so many people looking out for them, so they can grow to be the best version of themselves. Ichabod Crane has always been such a magnificent school district with some of the very best teachers and staff, but most importantly there is a great community behind it. I have always pictured myself not only raising kids but getting to be involved in everything that they were a part of. Now that all my kids are past the baby stage, I am finally able to do just that.
