Elementary School's Jump Rope for Heart Fundraiser Raises Over $10,000 for American Heart

(April 2, 2018) Ichabod Crane Elementary School concluded its Jump Rope for Heart fundraiser for the American Heart Association with an assembly on March 28. Physical education teacher Mr. Vooris announced the school raised $10,174 crushing last year's by $3,000! DISCO (Mr. Marturano), one of the Scare Squad members that are used as incentives for the students, made a special appearance to thank students.

All the money goes to the American Heart Association and helps to support life saving efforts such as research, education and reaching populations at risk. The students learned that the heart is the strongest muscle in the body. By practicing heart healthy behaviors like exercising 60 minutes a day, drinking water instead of sugary beverages, avoiding salty snack and eating plenty of fruits and vegetables helps our heart stay strong and live a longer healthier life.
