On Friday, June 22, 2018 Ichabod Crane High School held its 64th Annual Commencement Ceremony and said farewell to the Class of 2018.

There were 129 graduates in the Ichabod Crane Class of 2018, many of whom received Regents with Honors diplomas, Regents with Advanced Designation diplomas and Regents with Mastery in Math and Science diplomas.

After Ichabod Crane Board of Education president, Anthony Welcome, delivered the opening remarks to the Class of 2018, the top 10 graduates were honored with medals for their particularly outstanding academic achievements that made them stand out among an already accomplished group of students.

The Top 10 Ichabod Crane graduates of 2018 are:

  • Caesar Ferrari (Valedictorian)
  • Amanda Calvin (Salutatorian)
  • Habib Affinnih
  • Jessica Aless
  • Kristen Bertrand
  • Tanner Mulica
  • Angelika Nelson
  • Dell Potts
  • John Wheeler
  • Emma Zlomek

After the awarding of academic medals, both the Salutatorian, Amanda Calvin, and the Valedictorian, Caesar Ferrari, delivered speeches to their peers and the crowd.

In past years the District has handed out student awards and scholarships during the commencement ceremony. However, this was the first year that awards and scholarships were handed out on a different evening.

Connie Melone delivered the faculty keynote address. After teaching English for many years – and serving as the department chair - Ms. Melone retired at the end of the 2017-2018 school year and was personally chosen by the Class of 2018 to deliver the keynote address.

The presentation of diplomas followed the faculty keynote.

Commencement concluded with the presentation of the 2018 Class gift – the purchase of new picnic tables for the high school courtyard – and with closing remarks from Ichabod Crane District Superintendent, Michael Vanyo.
