Meet the Valedictorian & Salutatorian of the Class of 2018


(April 27, 2018) As announced in March, Caesar Ferrari is the Valedictorian and Amanda Calvin is the Salutatorian of the Ichabod Crane High School Class of 2018. Meet Caesar and Amanda below.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Caesar M. Ferrari

Caesar is the son of Michael and Nancy Ferrari of Kinderhook, NY. He has a current academic weighted GPA of 102.40 and has taken Advanced Placement, Honors and college credit courses throughout his high school career, with a concentration in math and science. Caesar became a member of the National Honor Society in his junior year and is a recipient of the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Medalist Award for Math and Science, the Rochester Institute of Technology Computing Medal and the Cornell Award.

While being an Ichabod Crane athlete, Caesar has participated in interscholastic sports since 7th grade as a member of the baseball and basketball programs, and is a three year member of Varsity Club. In his senior year, he was a member of the Ichabod Crane’s Varsity Basketball team when they earned NYSPHSAA Scholar Athlete Team status. Caesar’s academic success granted him several News Channel 13 Scholar Athlete Awards. He earned the Section 2 Basketball Scholar Athlete Award for the Colonial Council, as well as the Section 2 Scholar Athlete Doug Dickinson Memorial Award. This award is presented to the overall winner of Section 2 of NYSPHSAA Basketball. Caesar is the first student of Ichabod Crane to be recognized at this level. Most recently, Caesar was selected to take part in the Law Day Celebration ceremony.

Caesar is a communicant of St. John the Baptist Church in Valatie and is an avid volunteer, most notably for the IC Primary School Backpack Program and for the Ronald McDonald House of the Capital District. As part of the local business community, he also helps manage his family’s jewelry store business in Hudson.

Caesar will attend The State University of New York at Binghamton this fall, majoring in biochemistry.

 

Amanda Calvin

Amanda is the daughter of James and Jean Calvin of Valatie. She has a current academic weighted GPA of 101.23. Amanda is currently Vice President of the Class of 2018 after serving as Representative at Large for three years. She is also a member of Interact Club and National Honor Society.

For the past four years, Amanda has been a member of the Crane Acting Troupe, serving as President her senior year. Her most notable roles include “Judy Haynes” in White Christmas and “Anytime Annie” in 42nd Street. Amanda has attended the Muriel Scott Faxon School of Dance since age 4.

Outside of school, Amanda is a member of St. John the Baptist Church, where she served as a teaching assistant her sophomore year and participated in Midnight Run for the past two years. Amanda took part in many service projects during her freshman and sophomore years with Girl Scout Troop 1755. She volunteers each year at the Columbia-Greene Relay for Life benefiting the American Cancer Society.

Since 2015, Amanda has ushered at the Mac-Haydn Theatre. She will be working in the box office for the upcoming season. She also works part-time at the Cross Eyed Owl gift shop.

Throughout her senior year, Amanda has been attending Questar III’s New Visions Visual and Performing Arts program based at The Arts Center of the Capital Region in Troy.

Amanda plans to attend Wagner College in the fall, majoring in arts administration.
