Classes Begin Monday, September 22, 2008

WHO MAY REGISTER: Any person 16 years of age or older who is not enrolled in a private or public secondary school may enroll in any course. No high school credit may be given for any course taken as part of the Adult Education Program. THE FIVE-HOUR PRE-LICENSING COURSE IS OPEN TO ANYONE 16 YEARS OF AGE AND OLDER.

HOW TO REGISTER: You may register by mail or in person in the High School Auditorium Lobby. Students who wish to register for the five-hour pre-licensing course may do so either by mail or with Mr. Waldman in the High School in room 224. In person registration will take place on Monday and Tuesday, September 15 and 16 from 7:00 to 8:00 PM for session 1. In person registration for session 2 will take place on Monday, January 5 from 7:00 to 8:00 PM. All registration will be located in the High School Auditorium Lobby. All registration must be done either by mail or in person at the High School.

Please put the course title in the check memo section. All checks are made payable to ICC.

CLASSES BEGIN: Session 1 – MONDAY, September 22, 2008
Session 2 – MONDAY, January 5, 2009

TUITION: The tuition for each course is listed along with each course description. The total amount of tuition is payable at the time of registration. The tuition will be refunded if a course is canceled or if a student withdraws from a course before a course begins. There will be no refunds after the first class has met.

MATERIALS FEE: In some courses a small fee will be charged to cover the cost of materials

ENROLLMENT: All classes have minimum enrollments listed after each tuition amount.
If insufficient numbers register by mail or in person the class will be canceled.

SCHOOL CLOSING: The adult school will be closed on evenings when the regular day school is closed or after school activities have been canceled. Contact the individual school building prior to 3:30 PM for information regarding after school activities. In the event of sudden storms, announcements will be made over local radio stations

BODY CONDITIONING: In an hour workout, one night per week, tone and strengthen. Using various types of strength training equipment (free weights, body bars, exercise bands and balls) you will strengthen muscles you never knew you had. Beginning, intermediate, and advanced students are welcome. No one gets left behind. Get pumped and have fun!

SELF HELP

ART – A MIXED MEDIA APPROACH TO DRAWING AND PAINTING 5 WEEKS

Art is about self surprise and self expression. Explore the traditional and experimental in making art. This course will work from observation and imagination, using a variety of approaches and materials. Explore, observe, and create in a stimulating, risk free environment. The goal is to inspire and develop the individual artist to work with new motivation, confidence, and enjoyment. A separate materials list will be provided for students to purchase. Ms. Hummel has taught art at Ichabod Crane for 33 years and was the chairperson of the art department for the district. She also serves on the board of directors of the Columbia County Council of the Arts.

LEARN TO KNIT ONE NIGHT WORKSHOP
Thursday, October 2 6:00 – 8:00 PM
Ms. Bobye Nicholson High School Room 224 Tuition $15.00
CLASS MINIMUM ENROLLMENT: 2 MAXIMUM ENROLLMENT: 6
Learn how to knit. This 2 hour class will introduce the new knitting student to the basics – casting on, knitting, purling, and binding off. Students should come to class with a size 8, 9, or 10 needle, and a skein of yarn, OR materials may be purchased from the instructor for $10.00.
Learn to knit in a fun and relaxed atmosphere from Bobye Nicholson. Ms. Nicholson has taught knitting classes at Columbia Greene Community College, as well as in her own shop.

LEARN TO CROCHET ONE NIGHT WORKSHOP
Tuesday, October 7 6:00 – 8:00 PM

CLASS MINIMUM ENROLLMENT: 2 MAXIMUM ENROLLMENT: 6
Learn to crochet. This 2 hour class will introduce the new crocheting student to the basics – chain, single, double, and triple stitches, and, if time allows, additional stitches. Students should come to class with a crochet hook size G, H, or I, and a skein of yarn, OR materials may be purchased from the instructor for $10.00. Learn to crochet in a fun and relaxed atmosphere from Bobye Nicholson. Ms. Nicholson has taught knitting classes at Columbia Greene Community College, as well as in her own shop.

KNITTING 2 ONE NIGHT WORKSHOP
Tuesday, October 14 6:00 – 8:00 PM

CLASS MINIMUM ENROLLMENT: 2 MAXIMUM ENROLLMENT: 6
As a continuation of Learning to Knit, this class will bring the student to a more proficient level of knitting skill. In addition to the basics, students will learn the various ways to increase and decrease the stitching, and how to make button-holes. Students may also ask the instructor to help them on any more advanced knitting project or skill.

GETTING PAID TO TALK – AN INTRODUCTION TO PROFESSIONAL VOICE ACTING ONE NIGHT WORKSHOP

HAVE FUN AND MAKE MONEY WITH YOUR VOICE! Have you ever been told that you have a great voice? This exciting class will explore numerous aspects of voice-over work for television, film, radio, books on tape, documentaries, and the internet! This workshop will cover all the basics, including how to prepare the all important demo and how to be successful and earn great income in this exciting field. Students will have the opportunity to ask questions and to hear examples of demos recorded by professional voice actors. Class participants will have the chance to record a commercial script under the directions of a producer. This class is informative, lots of fun, and a great first step for anyone interested in voice-acting professionally.
