Ichabod Crane CSD to Appoint Vanyo as Next Superintendent

(Feb. 23, 2017) At its March 7 meeting, the Ichabod Crane CSD Board of Education is expected to appoint Michael Vanyo as the next superintendent of schools, effective July 1, 2017. Vanyo has 26 years of experience in public education including the past 10 years as superintendent. Learn More


Boys Volleyball Sectional Game March 1

(Feb. 23, 2017) The Boys Varsity Volleyball team, the #3 seed, will play their first sectional game on Wednesday, March 1 at 6 pm at Maple Hill HS against #2 seed Cobleskill. The winner will take on #1 seed Hudson for the Championship. Good luck Riders!


Boys Basketball Sectional Game Feb. 24

(Feb. 21, 2017) The ICC Boys Varsity basketball team defeated Schulyerville 65-54 this evening to advance to the Class B Sectional Quarterfinals on Friday, Feb. 24 at HVCC, 6:30 p.m. Go Riders!


Winter Sports Awards Ceremony Feb. 27

(Feb. 17, 2017) The Varsity Club will be hosting the Winter Awards Ceremony on Monday, Feb. 27 at 6 p.m. in the High School Auditorium. There will also be desserts and beverages in the library following the ceremony.


Suzanne Guntlow Appointed District Principal of APPR, Curriculum & Instruction, Search Opens for Primary School Principal

Application deadline for principal position March 11
(Feb. 17, 2017) The Board of Education appointed Suzanne Guntlow, principal of Ichabod Crane Primary School, to the position of District Principal of APPR, Curriculum and Instruction, effective July 1, 2017. The appointment follows Melissa Murray's announcement that she will retire at the end of the school year after 34 years of service to the Ichabod Crane Central School District. Guntlow has served as principal since December 2013.

The District has started the search for a new principal of the Primary School. The selected candidate would begin July 1. The application deadline is March 11, 2017. To learn more about the position, visit our Employment webpage here.

The Crane Acting Troupe will present "42nd Street" March 23, 24 & 25 at 7:30 p.m. in the Ichabod Crane High School Auditorium. The Box Office open on Monday, Feb. 27 and hours are Monday through Friday 6:30-8:30 p.m.
Don't miss the opportunity to attend a performance filled with Song and Dance. This Musical lovers Musical, as it has been called is timeless. ICC Student Artwork on Display in Burnt Hills

(Feb. 14, 2017) Five students from Ichabod Crane CSD have artwork included in the "Represented" exhibit that is currently on view at The Charlton School in Burnt Hills, NY. As a high school for young women, The Charlton School has the unique circumstance to exhibit a solely female art show representing girls across the Capital Region as creators of art. District Receives Positive Fiscal Stress Score for 4th Straight Year

(Feb. 8, 2017) For the fourth straight year, the Ichabod Crane Central School District received a fiscal stress score of "no designation," indicating a low level of fiscal stress, through the Office of the State Comptroller's Fiscal Stress Monitoring System. The system identifies local governments and school districts that are in fiscal stress, as well as those showing susceptibility to fiscal stress using four categories "No Designation," "Susceptible to Fiscal Stress," "Moderate Fiscal Stress," and "Significant Fiscal Stress." ICHS Student Artwork on Display at CGCC 2017 Juried Art Show

(Jan. 26, 2017) Two ICHS students were chosen to exhibit their artwork at the 2017 Juried Art Show at Columbia-Greene Community College. Leah Meredith's "Geometric Bloom" ceramic sculpture and Isabelle Tennier's contrasto design "Skull" will be on display at The Foundation Gallery from Jan. 24 - Feb. 24, 2017. IC Varsity Basketball Team Helps Raise Money for Ronald McDonald House

(Jan. 23, 2017) The ICC Boys Varsity Basketball team participated in the Ronald McDonald House Radiothon at Crossgates Mall on Saturday, Jan. 21. The varsity team has participated in the RMH Radiothon fundraising event for the past nine years and has raised over $7,500 for Ronald McDonald House. Learn More


Letter Sent Home About Student Illness

(Jan. 19, 2017) A letter has been backpacked home with students providing parents with guidelines on when to keep a child home with illness during this cold and flu season. IC Music Students Selected to Participate in All County Jazz Festival Feb. 1 & 3

(Jan. 19, 2017) Nine (9) Ichabod Crane High School students were selected to participate in the first of three Columbia County Music Educators Association (CCMEA) All County Festivals. ICC Student Darby Siver Makes $500 Donation Via O.K. Blankets to the Regional Foodbank’s BackPack Program at Ichabod Crane

(Jan. 18, 2017) Ichabod Crane student Darby Siver’s poster design for “O.K. –The Musical” was created into a woven blanket as part of Christopher Kline’s O.K. Blankets project. The editioned blanket was purchased by an art curator and collector from Switzerland, with all proceeds being donated to Ichabod Crane Elementary & Middle School’s BackPack Program to feed hungry students. Board of Education Passes Motion to Extend Cold War Tax Exemption

(Jan. 17, 2017) The Ichabod Crane CSD Board of Education unanimously approved a motion to extend a tax exemption to veterans of the Cold War who primarily reside in the district. Governor Cuomo signed legislation in August which allows school districts the option to grant Cold War Veterans an exemption from school taxes. Cold War Veterans were already eligible to receive an exemption from town & county taxes and now this legislation allows the schools to grant it as well. Board of Education to Interview 3 Candidates for Superintendent

(Jan. 11, 2017) The Superintendent Search Committee comprised of 13 members representing teachers, staff, administrators and community members interviewed seven candidates over two days December 20 & 21. Questar III, who is assisting the Ichabod Crane Board of Education with the search, received 21 applications for the superintendent position. On January 9, the Board of Education reviewed the committee's input and narrowed the candidate field to three (3). The Board will interview the three candidates on Jan. 30 with an anticipated appointment at its March 7 meeting.

VFW Audio Essay Contest Winners

(Jan. 5, 2017) The Stuyvesant Falls Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9593 conducted its annual Voice of Democracy competition recently at Ichabod Crane High School with the assistance of English teacher Ms. Connie Melone. Students submitted recorded essays of the theme "My Responsibility to America." Kindergarten Registration for Fall 2017

(Jan. 3, 2017) This Spring, Ichabod Crane Primary School will be conducting registration and screening for those students entering Kindergarten in September, 2017. In order to be eligible to enter Kindergarten this coming fall, a student must be five (5) years of age on or before December 1, 2017 and be a resident within the Ichabod Crane School District.
