As we begin another school year, I look forward to continuing to work with parents, teachers, administrators and the Board of Education to increase student achievement, and to provide a host of extra-curricular and athletic programs for our students.
Last school year, we convened a number of Board of Education “ad-hoc” committees to advise the Board and me about important policy issues. As a result of this work, we have redefined our pre-kindergarten program that we offer through Questar III, developed a new parent involvement policy, developed new academic and program goals and a revised attendance policy. Starting this school year, each student will be provided with a copy of the Attendance Policy. We are requesting parents to sign and return the last page of the policy. Please take the time to carefully review this document with your child, some of the changes are significant. We welcome parents and community members to be involved on our District-Wide Health and Safety Committee and/or various sub-committees. If you would like to participate in the Health and Safety Committee, or wish to learn more about this opportunity, please contact my office at 758-7575, Ext. 3002.
As always, I plan to attend a multitude of District events and look forward to continuing our conversation about what would make the school district even better. I welcome opportunities to meet with parents and school, community, or civic organizations about District programs and services.
I encourage you to stay in regular contact with your child’s teachers and building principal throughout the school year. If you have any questions, concerns, or comments about the District’s programs, operations, procedures or policies, please feel free to contact my office. I look forward to an exciting and successful year.
