PERSONAL COMMITMENT

 

As a mediator, it is expected that you conduct yourself in a manner that upholds the values we represent. There is a code of confidentiality involved in mediation. Being a gossip, making fun of others, or involvement in inappropriate behaviors will not benefit the program.
Peacemaking is honoring yourself, honoring others, and honoring the environment. Peer mediators are peacemakers who also have the skills to help others make peace.
Peer mediation is now included in the school’s code of conduct as a possible response to infractions. This in itself should stress to you the importance placed on the program.

To be fair and honest
To keep disputant’s information confidential
To complete mediation forms accurately
To return to class immediately after session
To be a mediator throughout this school year

As a peer mediator, I have agreed to the terms listed in the Mediator’s pledge. I have indicated my commitment with my signature. I understand that if I do not uphold any of these terms, the following actions are possible:
